Matthew Mitcham & Partner at Mardi Gras Fair Day

Sydney's favourite free weekly gay and lesbian magazine SX News had a stall at yesterday's highly successful Fair Day. At their stall the magazine snapped photo's of readers in mock-up SX covers. And among those who turned out, were these pictures of openly gay Australian Olympic gold medalist diver Matthew Mitcham and his partner Lachlan Fletcher. New Mardi Gras hailed yesterday's Fair Day a resounding success with more than 70,000 people braving the threat of rain and storms that never eventuated but were instead confronted with partly sunny and humid conditions. "We're absolutely thrilled with the turn-out for yesterday's Fair Day, it was the perfect way to begin this sensational Mardi Gras Season," NMG CEO Michael Rolik said. "The atmosphere was electric, with people from all parts of the community joining us for a great day in the park."
